Harvey Brooks

Harvey Brooks is the first bass guitarist of folk. Brooks rose to prominence while in the studio with Bob Dylan to record "Positively 4th Street", in addition to being featured on the rest of Dylan's landmark 1965 album Highway 61 Revisited and Dylan’s 1973 album New Morning. Brooks has also toured with Dylan at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium and the Hollywood Bowl. Harvey then went on to record bass parts for artists like Riche Havens, The Doors and Seals and Crofts (Summer Breeze). Brooks laid the groundwork for bass players in the blues rock fusion genre that would come to dominate much of the music in the next two decades. Through Columbia Records, Brooks also got the opportunity to record with the legendary Miles Davis on his Bitches Brew album. He was also a part of The Electric Flag formed by his former Dylan era collaborator Mike Bloomfield, as well as Super Session with Al Kooper. Harvey has recently moved to Israel with his wife and partner Bonnie. He continues to record, teach and compose music.
